Their video app. Your session choices.

Android screen pinning/kiosk functionality is used where permitted. Protective features attempt to prevent leaving the selected app through certain navigation, swipe, notification and picture-in-picture (PiP) routes, and restrict certain YouTube profile and upload routes. YouTube's mini-player expands back in YouTube.

Choose YouTube or YouTube Kids and use your PIN to exit at any time. Protection depends on Android version, permissions, device mode and third-party app UI. It is not an escape-proof guarantee or a content filter: YouTube can independently display ads and links, and content within YouTube is not filtered by KidTube Lock.

KidTube Lock itself has no ads or subscriptions. YouTube videos may still contain advertising. Check Google Play for current pricing and purchase terms.

A look inside Small choices. Big relief.

Set an optional timer, choose automatic unlock or remain locked until PIN entry, and review PIN-protected local watch-title history.

Existing promotional screenshots show an earlier captured UI with the short name KidTube Lock; they are not presented as new v1.10.8 screenshots. Labels shown include “Set Flexible Screen Time Limits,” “See What They Watched,” “Parent-Only PIN Unlock,” “You Decide How Time Runs Out,” and “Lock Sessions with a PIN.” Current options and appearance may differ. Watch-title capture can be partial, especially in YouTube Kids; it is not a complete viewing record.

Three calm steps From download to locked in.

01

Install the app

Download KidTube Lock from Google Play on a supported Android device. A parent should review and consent to the in-app Terms and Privacy links before enabling the session features.

02

Make two small changes

Allow Appear on top and enable KidTube Lock Guardian accessibility after reviewing what each permission does. Set your parent PIN. Follow the setup guide.

03

Hand it over

Choose YouTube or YouTube Kids, optionally set a timer and its end behavior, then tap Lock (shown as Lock Screen in the screenshots). A parent can exit with the PIN at any time.

Simple controls. Clear choices.

No ads. No subscriptions. Just a practical parent tool. See Google Play for current availability, pricing and purchase terms.

Questions parents ask

Do age suggestions automatically limit screen time?

No. Optional age ranges Under 5, 5–7, 8–12 and 13+ suggest a time choice only; they never automatically enforce a limit. A parent can change the choice or use no timer. With a timer, choose automatic unlock or remain locked until the parent enters the PIN.

What does watch history record, and where is it stored?

Limited app/UI text access supports features such as watched-video TITLE capture. History is on-device only and PIN-protected. Capture can be partial, especially in YouTube Kids, and is not a complete viewing record. According to the owner, the native Android app stores PIN, history and preferences locally and does not send those items to an app server or over the network.

How does the parent PIN work?

Set the PIN before a session. A parent can use it to exit at any time; the optional secret-tap control reveals PIN entry. History is also PIN-protected. If a timer is set to automatic unlock, it ends the session without a PIN; otherwise the session remains locked until PIN entry.

Does the lock filter videos or remove YouTube ads?

No. It manages a session in the selected app, not the content inside YouTube. YouTube may show its own ads and links and collect data under its own policies. KidTube Lock itself has no ads. Optional “Pin to a video” single-video mode focuses a session on a selected video rather than free browsing; availability and protection depend on the third-party UI and device conditions.

Why are permissions needed, and what is device-owner mode?

Appear on top allows the lock overlay. Guardian accessibility uses limited app/UI information for session protection and video-title capture. Follow the setup guide and give parent consent. Guided device-owner setup is an optional, separate path only where supported—not an ordinary permission switch or something every device can use. When configured as device owner, Google Play is disabled during the session and restored afterward. Google Play is not disabled in regular mode.

Which platforms are supported, and is protection guaranteed?

This information describes the native Android app. Chromebook/ChromeOS and desktop mode are unsupported; it is not an iOS or desktop support claim. Results depend on Android version, permissions, device mode and changes to YouTube or YouTube Kids. No cross-device or escape-proof guarantee is made.

Does the website follow the same privacy rules as the Android app?

The on-device-only statement concerns the Android app's PIN, history and preferences. This website's hosting and any website analytics are separate, as are Google Play and YouTube's online data practices. Read the publisher Privacy policy, Data Safety information and the Terms/Privacy links inside the app. A parent should review and consent before enabling the app's permissions and session features.
